FAQs

Q – What’s a good time for cookies?

A – You might be asking a biased person, but I would say you need cookies any time you’re celebrating an occasion, thinking of someone, or giving a gift! Celebrate someone special with a uniquely touching gift of edible art that will show them you know them, share an inside joke, or honor a milestone! Think of cookies for holidays and celebrations like New Years, Valentines, Spring, Easter, Summer, 4th of July, Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, birthdays, engagement parties, bachelorette/bachelor parties, weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, baptisms, first communions, graduations, get well gifts, retirements, hostess gifts, teacher gifts, thank you gifts, and more! Q – What do I do with these cookies?

A – You EAT them, Silly!  But before that, the only limit is your imagination. You can give a pretty box of cookies or deliver a platter full of cookie fun. You can also use a few custom decorated cookies to brighten a dessert table, use a cookie as a place card on your dining tables or commission a custom cookie centerpiece, use a cookie as a party favor (or maybe as your party invitation), sneak a special cookie to a swag bag, add cookies to decorate a cake or use cookies as a custom topper for a cake or cupcakes… it’s all up to you! Q – What happens when I order cookies? What if my plans change?

A – A cookie order isn’t added to my calendar until it’s paid in full. Once an order is on my calendar, that spot is reserved for YOU and I will turn down any other projects that would prevent me from giving your project the full attention it deserves. If you need to change your plans, please contact me as early as possible, and I will be as flexible as I can be within reason. See How to Order Custom Decorated Cookies for my policies on custom orders.  Please note that there is a LOT of planning that goes into each custom cookie project, and I often start work brainstorming and sketching the very second your order is placed. Depending on the size of the project, I may begin baking a week or more in advance of the delivery date. I do not issue refunds once I begin baking for you.

Q – Will you recreate a cookie I saw online if I provide a picture?

A – Not usually, no. I do not copy others’ work. I prefer that you to provide me some background on the cookie occasion and recipient, some broad ideas, themes, vibe, personality, color palette, etc., and allow me to create something very special just for you.  That said, if there is a particular cookie cutout shape or a general idea you’re looking to recreate, I might be able to accommodate using my own interpretation. As an example, I have often been asked to use a specific party invitation or elements of party décor as inspiration to create cookies for an event. That I can do!

Q – How much do your cookies cost?

A – I price cookies by the job. The cost depends on how many different cookies I’m making, how many different icing colors are involved, whether the order includes any oversized, 3-D or highly custom cookies, and how much detail you request. But generally speaking, the cost is $54 for an assorted dozen with 3 to 4 designs in 3 to 4 colors of icing—some simple, some more detailed, and often including one design that is a “mini” bite sized cookie. A typical moderately detailed single cookie, wrapped in a clear cello bag and tied with a ribbon bow would be $5. See Pricing for custom cookie pricing (and no, I do not offer discounts for large orders!).

Q – What are my choices of cookie flavors?

A – Standard Once Bitten cookie flavors are: sugar shortbread, chocolate brownie, and gingerbread. I usually ice the sugar shortbread and gingerbread with a delicious lemony icing, and the chocolate brownie with a vanilla icing or, sometimes around the holidays, peppermint icing. If you’re looking for something else, let’s talk!

Note: I generally do one cookie flavor per order, but can split an order between two flavors for an additional $10 charge.

Q – Can you accommodate special dietary restrictions?

A – I don’t have a gluten-free, sugar-free, kosher or vegan cookie option at this time. All of my cookies contain wheat flour, sugar, eggs and butter. And while my standard cookies don’t contain nuts, they are created in a kitchen that does. If you have a serious sensitivity, you should not partake of my cookies.

Q – How early do I need to order?

A – I can only create so many cookies at a time, so there is limited availability for custom orders. I recommend ordering at least 30 days ahead of time, and longer for popular holidays. I suggest 60 days for Halloween or Valentine’s orders, and 90  days for Christmas to make sure that I can get you on the schedule!

Q - How long will my cookies last?

A – Your cookies are tastiest the day you receive them, and they’ll stay delicious for a week or two if they’re packaged and sealed in a cello bag.  If you want to save them longer than that, you can freeze them for a month or two. But remember, cookies are meant to be seen and EATEN!

Q - Can you ship my cookies to me?

A – No. For best quality and freshness, I do not ship cookie orders. Most customers pick up their orders, but I am happy to deliver at no charge within 15 miles of Windsor Town Square. There is a $20 delivery fee between 16 and 30 miles, and I do not deliver beyond 30 miles. If distance is a problem, I have lots of talented cookie friends across the USA and would be glad to refer you.
